School of Good Ideas: Lesson #3
It's time for the next #SchoolOfGoodIdeas! Today we'll be giving you our best tips for keeping your mind active. When you're sluggish, tired, or not feeling your best, it's hard to stay inspired. In order to be a #GlobalSolver, you have to be prepared for good ideas whenever they might strike. Here are our best ideas for keeping your mind sharp and ready for your next great idea:
Tip #1: Take Care of Your Body to Take Care of Your Mind
Building a better mind starts with building a better body. Exercising, eating healthy, and getting a good night's sleep are all proven to stimulate brain activity and help keep you focused on your daily tasks. You don't need a gym membership or a fancy diet plan - just a quick walk around the block and swapping afternoon sweets for a protein-packed snack like nuts or yoghurt can make a difference!
Tip #2: Learn Something New
Learning new skills is a great way to keep your mind active. Learn a language, practise an instrument, or try a new recipe to help keep your brain on its toes and tackle new challenges. Check out online tutorials and see if a friend can share their hobby with you!
Tip #3: Try a New Perspective
Seeing things from a new point of view can help to spark some new ideas. Even trying something as simple as using your non-dominant hand, or walking a new route home, can help. What will you try?
Tip #4: Meditate
A study from 2007 found that daily meditation can help improve attention, focus, and empathy. Lots of celebrities and business leaders credit meditation to their success--from Oprah Winfrey to Michael Jordan to Bill Gates. Give it a try with some YouTube videos or apps like Headspace.
Tip #5: Socialize
Interacting with others helps to activate your mind and build bonds across different perspectives. Chat with a friend on the phone, catch up with a coworker over a cup of coffee, or join a local sports team to stay active and meet new people!
